John, Are You Listening?

Star Parker wrote a great article and Open Letter to John McCain. Check it out and see if it doesn't reflect some of your feelings.

An Open Letter To John McCain
By Star Parker March 31, 2008

Dear John McCain,
Every relationship requires effort. I want to do my part. But there needs to be common ground to start with and you're making it harder and harder for me to find where it is.
I'm an optimist and a woman of faith. I believe we are strong because our nation is meant to be, as President Reagan often reminded us, a "shining city upon a hill."
You spoke in Los Angeles the other day about our country and its place in the world. You talked about political, economic and military strength, and international citizenship.
I strained to hear you mention our moral uniqueness -- our being that "city on a hill." But I heard not a hint.
President Nixon once observed that Americans often make the mistake of thinking that conflict in the world is the result of misunderstanding rather than difference of belief.
Because you seem not to appreciate that our beliefs make us different, you suggest more talk. You propose more international compacts and organizations, as if we don't have enough.
What exactly are the values we would share with others in your concept for a League of Democracies? The European Union countries can't even agree on a common constitution.
A 2000 survey of the United States and 14 Western European democracies checked the percentage of residents who never attend church. France was highest, with 60 percent, followed by Great Britain (55 percent), Belgium (46 percent) and West Germany (30 percent). The European mean was 36, more than twice as high as in the United States, which had 16 percent.

The Conservatives still hold the majority in America. We need to demand that our side is heard. We need to demand that any candidate who wants to hold office, recognizes us as a force to get behind.

Why Iraq

I don’t have a problem with us going to Iraq and taking down a brutal dictator. Some of you probably are right now thinking about clicking off this page, but hear me out for one minute. Let me put a slightly different spin on it because my opinion has nothing to do with all the current nonsense that seems to be dividing this nation.

In 1991 we went to the Middle East to liberate Kuwait. Saddam and his military had taken it by force and we and several other nations righted this wrong. In fact, while Saddam’s UN ambassador was negotiating for his life we marched all the way to Bagdad. The war ended because Saddam agreed to 14 UN resolutions that put very tight restrictions on him. These UN resolutions were backed with force and we were one of the suppliers of that force. {RESOLUTION 687 (1991)}

The world was very surprised at how quick the US and its allies won the war. Russia and all its might had been bogged down in Afghanistan for years; the same was expected in Iraq. Iraq was a far more formidable opponent then Afghanistan. Many of the anti-Saddam revolutionary groups joined in our effort during this war.

Saddam and his UN ambassador had saved their butts and once the conquering forces had left and the UN resolutions were in place. Saddam and his Revolutionary Guard hunted down and brutally killed every person who stood in opposition to him. He not only killed the person but the person’s entire family. He re-established his iron grip and tears the heart out of his people. The seeds of hatred for America were than given fertile soil and fundamental Islam had a rush of converts. The US was seen as the one who let Satan out of the bag and we were pronounced guilty of all that was wrong with the Middle East.

Radical Islam was nothing more than a small group of nuts who spewed hatred and managed to pull off a few crazy attacks every once in a while to claim legitimacy. The world was ignoring this group as they suddenly rose to power. The US was doing its part to support the UN resolutions but as each of them was broken in many ways we did nothing. This constant nothing of talk and no action only continued to fertilize the seeds of hatred and to confirm their pronouncement against us. Radical Islam grew.

The UN sanctions and Saddam’s brutality and greed took its toll on the nation of Iraq. Hundreds of thousands died of diseases and malnutrition because Saddam took money to repair infrastructure and used most of it for military purposes. Carefully planted bribes and cheap oil kept this going until 1997 when the Food-for-Oil Program removed cash from the equation.

While all this was going on, Saddam continued waging partial war against the No-Fly Zones and those who had plotted against him. These hostilities were met with little force. The artillery unit was destroyed but no action was taken against the defiance. UN Resolution after UN Resolution was broken and nothing was done about it. More talk and no action, people were dying and those who had the power to change it did nothing. Radical Islam grew and the hatred for America increased.

In the US the leader had changed. Bill Clinton was now the president and his less military better approach was starting to affect our military influence. Sex scandals and other absurdities took all the lime light. Our Paper Tiger status was firmly being established. Hollywood and the sins of our president were being draped over America and Radical Islam gained strength and justification.

In 1995 President Clinton chose to bomb Bosnia instead of deal with the problem in Bagdad. Some would claim it was to lessen the publicity of his affair, others would claim it was a way to show support to Muslims. The reality of this event has never fully been exposed in the media. The Muslims in Bosnia bombed their own people to create a fake event blamed on the Christians to pull the strings of the US and Clinton bought it hook, line and sinker. The Radical Islamic learned that we can be easily manipulated through false video and the propaganda war started.

In 1998 more talk under Clinton and the US passed a resolution demanding regime change in Iraq. All the while the Radical Muslims perfected the art of terrorism. Saddam would pay thousands of dollars to the families of suicide bombers and support various terror groups. Death and bombings were happening routinely but all we could do was lob a couple of missiles here and there and attempt to talk people to death.

The passive acts of the Clinton Administration re-enforced the position of the Radical Muslim and encouraged bolder and bolder attacks. What if the security and strength of this nation would have gotten as much play time in the oval office as Monica? What if we would have actually enforced the UN resolutions on Iraq before the effect of Saddam and the Sanctions created the effect of genocide?

I believe that 9/11 would have never happened if we would have taken our obligation to Iraq seriously. We waited 12 years. With every passing year we helped build the terrorist organization that seeks our destruction.
Bush has been a horrible commander and chief. He has mishandled this war at almost every phase. We are in the situation we are in for that reason. It doesn’t change the fact that Iraq needed doing. We simply did it too late. Bush’s plan would have worked in 1995 when the people still had strength enough to stand and Radical Islam hadn’t risen to such strength.

I blame Clinton for not doing what needed to be done. I blame Bush for doing what needed to be done wrong.

Stop Calling Me.

I get calls and letters wanting me to contribute my money to another failed candidate in the election cycle. I went off on one today and thought that you may want to know what I told them. If more Americans would stand up and tell them what we want maybe they would give it to us.

McCain may be the GOP candidate but he is not my candidate. He is only slightly better than the democratic alternatives and I cannot contribute to this gross dereliction of duty and dishonor being served on the American people. I will vote for him because he is the best of the worst, not because he will represent me and my conservative values in DC.

We need a candidate who will close the borders and in so doing fix the economic tailspin we are now in. We would eliminate billions of dollars in wasteful spending by cutting these people out of the American dole. We would save our schools by eliminating the 20-40% wasted on ESL and other subsidies that support the illegal’s in American educational programs. We would reduce the cost of health care by 25% by simply having real citizens who pay their bills, use our medical services.

This labor pool loss will offset the losses in employment under a recession and bolster the economy. Unemployment would hold steady at 5% or less making American citizens gainfully employed and the job openings may even encourage others not currently contributing to the pool to re-enter.

We need a candidate who will make strong energy choices, with a focus on using what we have here and stop feeding the source of the terror problem. We in America have vast energy choices that could easily bring us to full independence in ten years. We would have to put a real and unified effort into making this happen. We would have to return to majority principals and drill in ANWR, mine coal, and use our technologically advanced nuclear energy systems. We would need to squash NIMBY attitudes and build attitudes that declare, “What is good for America is good right Here!”

We need a candidate who would promote America First Education. We are a great nation and we have occasionally made mistakes, but that should not be the primary focus of education. We need a core curriculum that focuses on our successes and points to the flaws in other systems. We need to stop promoting other flawed systems without first establishing a healthy respect of the American Constitution and System of Government. We need to actually teach American history and not fear or hide any religious intentions that may have helped establish our nation. The truth about our religious heritage is not to be hidden but encouraged so students can fully understand the bravery and motivation of those who were willing to risk everything to create this nation.

We need a candidate who will fight terrorism in the backyards of the terrorist and not in the backyards of America. We need to use all our resources to find the terrorists and attack them where they live. They will soon realize that choosing terror is choosing a very short future for them and their family. Any candidate who believes that we can bring all our troops home is inviting the terrorists to follow and that is unacceptable.

We need a candidate who can plainly talk about how much money America is giving foreign nations. They need to be willing to stop the flow if we are not getting any benefit. If they want our help, they will change their ways. We cannot afford to prop up every nation on the planet with our tax dollars.

We need a candidate who understands that our money is just that, Ours-the American peoples. It is not an everlasting spigot that they can keep turning up the flow. They need to focus on the real and constitutional requirements of government and when those needs are met, petition the people as to what other programs are wanted and necessary. We need to stop giving to every “good” cause and start meeting our obligations first. If a truly “good” cause arises, simply announce it to the American people. We are a kind and generous nation and any cause worthy of our money will be honored with an out pouring that will exceed expectations and needs. The government can return to taking care of America knowing the people will take care of the worthy cause. Any cause not found worthy in the eyes of the people, will receive little and is not to be bolstered or challenged by the government.

We need a candidate who understands the value of a common language and will take steps to promote English. No law will be written that denies people the right to speak any language they chose, but all business and activities promoted by the government will be rendered in English. All printed materials will be in English. No alternative language options will be required. The common language of business and education will be English. This unifying language will reduce costs, confusion and promote increased growth and achievement in all areas of society.

We need a candidate that understands defense and the security of this nation. We must never be afraid to field a bigger force and provide for the protection of our borders. Our security is the first priority of our government and anything that can be done to enhance that should be tops on the list. Any innovation or creation that will give our military an advantage no matter how slight should be put into immediate use. No options will be over looked that could increase the safety and survivability of our troops. Any weapon that will eliminate the enemy should be an available option. No candidate should ever suggest that anything would be removed from the table. Their key declaration should be, “We are in it to win!”

If a party could field a candidate who could do these basic things, they would win a landslide victory. This is the candidate America wants. This is the Candidate America should get.

Save The Dollar

Resurrect King Dollar
By Lawrence Kudlow
Tuesday, March 4, 2008

If Sen. John McCain wants to run as a candidate of change, and if he’s interested in distancing himself from President Bush on some issues, he should reverse the declining fortunes of the Bush wartime dollar. America’s prestige is on the line.

With inflation spurting in the U.S., the sinking dollar is being ridiculed both at home and overseas. The falling dollar is perceived as a sign of American decline -- which is a very bad sign.

Main Street voters hate soaring food and gasoline prices. Suburban voters who take vacations are very angry. Gold at $1,000 an ounce?! Oil at $100 a barrel?! What’s going on here? Is this America?

The people in charge of the dollar at the Treasury and the Federal Reserve are guilty of dollar neglect. They’re also Republican appointees, and the GOP will take the blame in November. The Treasury says a strong dollar is in the nation’s interest? Huh? The Fed says it’s targeting price stability? Huh?

Must Read Article

We have lost focus on what true strength looks like to the world. It is not just about military might but about the strength of the dollar and our ability to purchase goods on the world market. The strength of the dollar and its buying power could settle world events in past troubled times. If we chose to embargo a nation or product, the power of the dollar would force immediate change. We are now laughed at or scoffed. This needs to be a priority or inflation and low buying power will become a standard of America. Recession is inevitable if the dollar continues to fall.

THE BASIS FOR A STRONG NATION

My fellow Blogger over at Right Truth has got a great piece up that you need to read. It is high time we take a look at this nation without the political correctness bent.

THE BASIS FOR A STRONG NATION

By R.J. Godlewski

1. A Return to American basics
Change. It is a descriptive bantered about as if it were a pagan idol newly minted from gold. It is heralded as a portent of our nation’s future; a representative of fresh ideas and long-awaited opportunities. Those who espouse its conjuring implore us to recognize all that’s bad with our nation and its people. Yet, America is the epitome of change – and always has been. Our nation was the first to demand the inalienable rights of the individual and fight wholeheartedly for them. Our nation was the first republic created solely from a menagerie of non-indigenous peoples. America, the much maligned target of seemingly an entire planet, is the only nation on earth that’s come to the rescue of the others and not hang around as a despotic land-grabber. Our people – the very essence of America itself – are the most compassionate and generous people ever known to grace God’s good earth.

The 545 People Responsible For All Of U.S. Woes

I didn't write this peice but it needs to be read and understood by every voter in America. It may not speak of current events but it speaks clearly to us all who is responsible for what goes on in our nation. It is time we acted to fix the problem.

BY Charley Reese
(Date of publication unknown)-- -- - Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits? Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don't write the tax code. Congress does. You and I don't set fiscal policy. Congress does. You and I don't control monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president and nine Supreme Court justices - 545 human beings out of the 235 million - are directly, legally, morally and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered but private central bank.I excluded all but the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it.
No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislation's responsibility to determine how he votes.
A CONFIDENCE CONSPIRACY
Don't you see how the con game that is played on the people by the politicians? Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of Tip O'Neill, who stood up and criticized Ronald Reagan for creating deficits.
The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating appropriations and taxes.O'neill is the speaker of the House. He is the leader of the majority party. He and his fellow Democrats, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetos it, they can pass it over his veto.
REPLACE SCOUNDRELS
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 235 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts - of incompetence and irresponsibility.
I can't think of a single domestic problem, from an unfair tax code to defense overruns, that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair. If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red. If the Marines are in Lebanon, it's because they want them in Lebanon.
There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take it.Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exist disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation" or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people and they alone are responsible. They and they alone have the power. They and they alone should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses - provided they have the gumption to manage their own employees.
