Who Do We Owe?

Is it all Wall Street or does our foreign debt have some effect on the problem? With all the money we owe, how are we going to come up with even more? What if the world says no?

DEMAND an end to any and all deficit spending.
As President Ronald Reagan once said "You and I are told we must choose between a left, or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down."
We at "Let's Get this Right" agree with that statement and we recognize that the US economy is in enormous trouble. This includes Wall Street, the US Government, and every American living on main-street; no one is immune to the impact of the current economic situation.
When Wall Street needs help it turns to the government, when the government needs help it turns to the American people and when the American people need help, it is often too late for us to obtain help because the government has already over spent the tax dollars, fees and fines it collects as part of its daily function.
When it needs money for a spending bill, or a financial bailout, the government either cuts spending somewhere, shifts spending temporarily, raises taxes on the American people or simply prints more money.

How bad is it?

When you look at how it stacks up, it really doesn't appear as bad as they are making it out to be. How much of this is hype and how much is real?

Who Will Pay For It?

Micheal Reagan clearly stated what needed to be said.

There aren't enough people making $250,000 a year to finance Barack Obama's extravagant spending plans, let alone the ability to pay for the $700 billion bailout. He has to look elsewhere -- in this case the only place he can look -- to the middle class.
Like Willie Sutton, who said he robbed banks because that's where the money is, Obama is going to have go after the middle class because that's where the real tax money is.
Eliminate capital-gains taxes, cut individual and corporate tax rates to the bone, and watch the economy soar and unemployment shrink.
Don't allow boneheaded ideas like Barack Obama's plan to increase taxes at a time of economic crisis become a reality. He tells us that his tax plan would reduce the taxes of 95 percent of the American people, but doesn't say how he can give a tax break to the 40 percent of them who don't pay any income taxes at all. Since they can't get a tax refund for taxes they don't pay, he wants the people who pay taxes to send them a check.

Mr. Reagan was discussing the bailout plan and the view points of the candidates in the article titled, Let's Get It Right.

Bailout - What happened?

Everyone is wondering about the proposed bailout. You got the stock market going crazy both domestic and international. Are the American people going to be holding a big bag of nothing or will the market rebound in short order and make a profit for the American tax payer? If the financial institutions are going under what is left to make a profit on?

There are a ton of questions out there and Zogby has been asking the average American their opinion on many of them. Americans Split on Bailout and looking for answers. What nobody seems to be noticing is Ben Barnanke clearly laid this out back in a speech he gave in July of 2008. He noted that third party investors are causing destabilization in the market.
As you are aware, one of the key events in financial markets in recent months was the near-bankruptcy in March of the investment bank Bear Stearns. The collapse of Bear Stearns was triggered by a run of its creditors and customers, analogous to the run of depositors on a commercial bank. This run was
surprising, however, in that Bear Stearns's borrowings were largely secured--that is, its lenders held collateral to ensure repayment even if the company itself failed. However, the illiquidity of markets in mid-March was so severe that creditors lost confidence that they could recoup their loans by selling the collateral. Hence, they refused to renew their loans and demanded repayment.

Nobody is talking about who these investors are. Let me suggest foreign investors as part of the failure. We have allowed our nation to be bought and sold on the foreign market. Let me point to the one area that is our fault, the one area that we could have kept our money at home, that one thing is oil. We have allowed nations who have an interest in our destruction to hold vast quantities of our wealth. Our economic crisis has been created in our congress.

Yes our US Congress has failed to put policies in place that would save us. They have done nothing about illegal aliens and our border.
They have done nothing about opening up drilling.
They have done nothing about securing American energy.
They have done nothing about lowering business taxes in order to keep them here in America.

Bush has done nothing to effect change in these areas either. He has very little power to effect change but the bully pulpit of president can go a long way of effecting change in Congress.

Well what will spending close to a trillion dollars of our money really going to do to change this current financial fiasco? I'm still debating this one. Now is your chance to add your thoughts. Tell me how you see this huge expense playing out. Is there a chance for a financial windfall?

Are You Patriotic?

I couldn't believe that someone would say something so back wards. Paying higher taxes is patriotic. I think nearly everyone is aware of the fact that Biden said it.
Perhaps someone should remind him that this nation came to be because paying more taxes was not acceptable to our founders. King George kept raising taxes and expanding taxes to help pay for the mother countries needs. Did we have a patriotism problem back then too?

American's work far too hard. That work is often rewarded with improved income. Our government currently robs us of this effort through taxes. They promise us everything and anything and the bulk of us get nothing. I know I currently pay far too much for what I get. I keep lobbying for lower taxes and few help me with my request. The last thing I want is another tax, even if you label it with patriotism.

HEY JOE AMERICANS SAY NO!

Obama's Goals for the Military

If Obama doesn't make you pause and wonder how he will protect America given his open nogatiation ideas, perhaps this will clear it up.

I got a collection of sticks and stones in my back yard. I'm ready for the Obama defense system.

Don't Ever Forget

Life has been so crazy I didn't get to post this. I know many of you have read multiple memorials. There is a lot to think about and know about the World Trade Center. I found a great sight of facts and info. You may want to link to it.
Here is a list of 101 facts about the building.
1. The WTC opened in 1970 after 8 years of construction.
2. The WTC was the dream of David Rockefeller, chairman of the Chase Manhattan Bank, and Nelson Rockefeller, former Governor of New York.
3. The Rockefellers wanted to name the towers after themselves, but the mayor of NY, John Lindsay, insisted on the World Trade Center.
4. The City chose to build the WTC instead of building a new tunnel and large bridge over the Hudson River.
5. The World Trade Center was designed by architect Minoura Yamasaki.
6. According to Yamasaki, downtown Manhattan was the perfect place to erect the towers because there wasn't "a single building worth saving in the neighborhood."
7. Owners of nearby buildings disagreed, and delayed demolition by three weeks with their protests.
8. Sixteen blocks were cleared to house the completed WTC.
9. More than 10,000 workers involved in building the complex.
10. More than 60 of them died during construction.
11. The excavation work displaced enough soil to create Liberty Park, where four 60-floor towers and four apartment buildings were constructed.
12. The WTC's foundations were laid at 60 feet below ground level.
WE MUST NEVER FORGET!

New House, Yeah!

I'm sorry I missed all you who visited while I was away. I have been moving and was without computer access for a while. I am back and it looks like I am just in time for plenty of political fun.
We have bought a new house and moved to a great place. Everyone has their own room and the world is a much happier place. It needed a little fixin' here and there. I have snaked the tubs and repaired the sink in the bathroom. I have replaced old and broken towel racks and put a new motor in the exhaust fan. There have been so many little projects that needed doing. I have even up graded my network with a huge storage drive.

I hate moving. My plan is to stay put for a long time. I will do all the little things that need doing and make this my dream home. The wife and I are very pleased with our choice.

I hope all of you are doing well. Feel free to leave me a note about what has been going on in your world.
