The Word Trillion Keeps Coming up.

That word "trillion" masks what it really involves. Why is it that Congress get's outraged over petty amounts like "millions" but never blinks at "trillions"? It's simply because they sound so much alike, and the American public is by and large innumerate.

To put it in perspective, I recall last year the outrage over a company spending two "million" dollars to renovate their executive suites, while Congress and our government were spending two "trillion" dollars into the red for programs that quite obviously have not worked to improve the economy.

A trillion dollars - for the innumerate masses out there - Is one million million dollars. It's quite literally six orders of magnitude larger. Imagine the average families debt load, multiply it by a million and that's the sort of thing we're talking about.
