Who Puts the Ugh in Ughly?

People Magazine is about to release there list of the Top 100 Most Beautiful People of 2009. I almost hurled when I read the list of people around Obama who have been choosen; First lady Michelle Obama is the centerpiece of it all. "The Fabulous First" folks roster also includes White House social secretary Desiree Rogers, personal aide Reggie Love, chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, speechwriter Jon Favreau, Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner and White House chef Sam Kass.

Doesn't that scare you.

What was this person or group thinking?

A Moment of Beauty

I don't know if any of you have ever been to Multnomah Falls, but it is worth a visit. The entire Columbia River Gorge is breath taking. I shot this with a fairly long exposure to soften the water and highlight the details.
Mother nature has amazing acts of beauty all over this planet. Unfortunately, we are often way to busy to stop and enjoy them. The world of politics and government may be going south in a hurry but stopping and seeing the simplistic beauty of nature will often reset the heart and mind for the battles that still need to be waged.

If you would like to purchase my best shot of this fantastic waterfall. You can do so here. I am thinking of a poster size print of this myself.

Get Out The Microscope

Obama just laid plans to cut $100 Million from the budget. It wasn't a joke. Really!

Did You see the dot?

Brian Riedl painted a very clear picture for us with the following:

Today, President Obama called for $100 million in budget cuts. Out of a $4 trillion in spending this year, this is the rounding error of a rounding error:

· It is 1/40,000 of the federal budget;

· It is 1/7,830 the size of the recent “stimulus” bill;

· It would close 1/1,845 of this year’s budget deficit;

· It is the amount the federal government spends every 13 minutes; and

· For a family earning $40,000 annually, it is the equivalent of cutting $1 from their family budget.

So why bother?

The Symbol of America

Hope your speakers are on.

Napolitano, Just Another One

Go ahead add her to the list of nuts Obama has surrounded himself with over the years. I tried to warn you that BO was a left winged loon and that his association with hard leftists will be a disaster to our nation. He just can't help himself.

Character does matter! We have a president of poor character who has friends of even lessor character. I'll pause while you run down the list in your mind........

Now, can you think of anyone he associated with who is of good character? You may need to take a few days on this one. I won't bother waiting.

I don't think he has appointed anyone who hasn't insulted this nation in some form. So I really can't be surprised over the leaked report from DHS. This is exactly the kind of thing I would expect from this administration. While others are running around acting surprised and getting their undies in a bundle, I simply see it as par for the course. BO doesn't like America or its constitution and has told you so quite plainly. You as a nation elected him to president anyway and to make matters even worse, we got Hillary as well. Now we are going to have a fit over what would be obvious to his past persuasions?

All we can do is hold our politicians feet to the fire and hang on tight. Write, call, email and fax as often as possible. Attend any and every conservative function to both remind you your not alone and to remind them how alone they really are. The TEA Parties went a long way. We got their attention and they know it is possible for us to get the votes to put them out on the street. We need to orchestrate similar reminders over the next couple of years. Nothing beats a red hot iron in the back of your mind when you go to vote on that next bill.

It's our job as citizens to hold our elected officials accountable. We have done a pretty lousy job over the last 30 years so we have a lot of ground to make up. Don't close your eyes and go back to sleep, we are all needed to save this nation.

How Many Trillion Will That Cost?

Seems everyday someone is discussing a trillion dollars for this or that. We have heard "a trillion dollars" so often that we don't even blink any more. It wasn't that long ago when someone would say a billion and you would be taken back. I don't even see people flinch when someone points out that Obama's budget is $3.8 trillion. Other stories point to our debt rising to $10 trillion or 72.2% of our nations GDP. (United States — GDP: 13.84 Trillion)

It is time for a reality check.

The average home in America is worth $210,000. A trillion dollars would buy 4,761,904.76 homes. If these homes had families of 4, that would house 19,047,619, or 6.27% of our population. (Population of US: 303,824,640)

The average household income in the US is $50,740 according to 2007 information. A trillion dollars would have kept 19,708,316.91 from having to go to work this year. Since this is based on household income then we multiply by 1.65 and get 32,518,722.90 people who didn't have to work or 10.7% or our population. Wouldn't that make a serious dent in unemployment statistics?

The average new auto in America costs $28,400. A trillion dollars would buy 35,211,267.61 new cars. That is 14.04% of all the cars in the US. (estimated 250,851,833 registered passenger vehicles in the United States according to a 2006 DOT study)

A dollar bill is a unique piece of paper well recognized around the world. It currently measures 2.61 inches wide by 6.14 inches long, and the thickness is .0043 inches. If we were to lay a trillion of them end to end we would get a line 96,906,565.66 miles long. That would be 202.85 round trips to the moon. (avg distance from earth to moon is 238,857 miles)

If we laid them side by side, a trillion of them would make a line 41,193,181.82 miles long or 86.23 round trips to the moon.

If we simply stacked them neatly in a pile, a trillion of them would make a pile 67,866.16 miles high or 28.4% of the average distance to the moon.

If we were to cover an area laying them end to end side to side we would cover 41,059.44 square miles that is an area bigger then Kentucky and smaller then Tennessee.

I hope that this gives you some perspective of the size of a trillion dollars. The vast value of what we are talking about and returns the shock and deep breaths when you hear it. Don't let some politician try to treat this as a minor thing in American politics. We are talking real money and in this case really big debt.

So the next time you hear someone talking about the budget and tax dollars you can pull them aside and let them know what a trillion dollars looks like.

The Left Wants to Takeover The Internet

Have you seen this news article?

Will bill give Obama control of Internet?

The internet is the source of information that is used world wide. Taking control of the internet means you take control of information. We have seen the broad change in language and definition over the last couple of decades. Recently we have been told not to use "War On Terror" or "Enemy Combatants". Controlling the language has always been a strong tool of the left but that would be nothing compared to controlling internet access.

The recent news about cyber attacks will help propel this bill and it will take a real effort to stop it. Once again you will have to write and call your representatives. I know this is getting old but until we the people get back control of our government we will need to pound them with letters and calls.

Will your opinion on your website be considered an attack? Look words matter and often change the face of a situation. Look over a legal contract and tell me that words and language aren't important. Fifty years ago you could write an agreement on a piece of paper. Now it takes a ream of paper and a boat of lawyers to accomplish a small act of business.

Your words on your website could be deemed an attack on our nation as our leaders see it. They may not be able to arrest you but they sure can keep you from posting opinions against them through a bill such as this. Just as China has filtered the internet the US government is looking to do the same thing in the name of security.

Common Sense Budgeting

It is high time we find someone to put the brakes on this fast moving express train to bankruptsy and offer a plan that will restore America.
