Having Control and Out of Control

The Democrat party is splintering. They have been working hard to tear themselves apart. Americans buy some time to actually look at the healthcare plans before congress, while the Democrats fall apart.

Liberals gag over health deal By GLENN THRUSH

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spent half of Wednesday finalizing a deal with the Blue Dogs — and the other half quelling a brewing rebellion among progressives who think conservatives have hijacked health care reform.

Liberals, Hispanics and African-American members — Pelosi’s most loyal base of support — are feeling betrayed after House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) reached an agreement with four of seven Blue Dogs on his committee who had been bottling up the bill over concerns about cost.

The compromise, which still must be reconciled with competing House and Senate versions, would significantly weaken the public option favored by liberals by delinking reimbursement rates to Medicare.

As they fight among themselves, we must press our fellow Americans to become informed of what plans they have against us. This really is a plan that is against everything that has made America great. I see so many people gaga over "Free Healthcare" that they have missed the real cost in life and dollars being placed before us.

Here is a link to a bills summery report. There is a lot of variation to the bills but the bulk of them puts government in charge of your health. Most go so far as to deny you any real say. Your life will be decided by a formulary and making it illegal to go outside the system.

For those of you who want to get a clear idea of the sales pitch so you can avoid the con and get to the facts of the bill, here is a link to the sales pitches coming your way.

Now that you are fully prepared to meet this challenge head on, go out and talk it up. Let's get America fired up so we can defeat this hostile takeover of our nation.

Thought

I ran across a comment that I know you would appreciate.

Traditionally the government of the US runs in cycles where half the time it is controlled by Democrats and half by Republicans. We just came through 8 years where Democrats were claiming that Republicans were complete idiots and currently some Republicans are claiming such of Democrats.
Do You really want to trust healthcare to one group of idiots or the other given the strong winds of politics?

Bailout

We Have Upset Him

BO today complained about the progress on his healthcare reform.

"Sometimes I get a little frustrated because this is one of those situations where it's so obvious that the system we have isn't working well for too many people, and that we could be doing better," he said.

If Americans are going to really get the health reform we need, we are going to have to fustrate the president quite a bit more. You see, we don't want the government to take over healthcare. The government does a horrible job at programs like this. Look at Medicare, Social Security, US Post office and so many other government run enterprises. We do not need more money sucking beaurocracy that will only further inflate costs and reduce care.

There are things the government could do to get out of the way and improve healthcare. I have repeated them over and over.

Look mister and misses government busy body, when you can properly take care of your constitutional obligations then we can talk about you taking on other projects.

Go Die Now

I don't understand how nobody can see the problems with healthcare that need fixing. We don't need an atomic bomb to do what a sniper could do. There are key issues that need to be focused on and our congress critters and president want to destroy the entire system. You can read what are the key issues below. Today I want to point out what others are say about the plans coming out of our elected officials and the devistation to our nation that will result if we allow them to do this.

Obamacare for old folks: Just 'cut your life short'Health plan provision demands 'end-of-life' counseling By Bob Unruh

Obama Seeks to Calm Fears on Health Reform By Ceci Connolly and Michael D. Shear
Doctors and hospitals would order fewer repetitive tests under his ideal system, Obama said. And he added that providers would turn to less expensive drugs that work as well as their costly alternatives, though he did not explain how that would be encouraged or enforced.

"Our proposals would change incentives so that doctors and nurses are free to give patients the best care, just not the most expensive care," he said.

We Might Be Saved By His Arrogance

Watching BOs poll numbers slide has been an insperation. Americans are waking up and realizing that it was all smoke and mirrors, all talk and no action. The pide pipers voice is starting to loose its lure. I have made comments to others that he doesn't know when to shut up.

Recently he had to put his two cents into the Gates arrest in Massachusets. Instead of coming out on the side of law and civility, he had to become a race baiter and a cop hater. The teachings of Jerimiah Wright jumped back in my mind. His careful concellment of the very thoughts promoted in the church he sat for 20 years, suddenly jumped out. He was right, this was a "Teachable Moment", America learned a lot about our president and his deep seated racism.

As poll number drop, political fall out becomes the norm. No one wants to find themselves lashed to tightly to a sinking ship. The democrats have 60 votes in the senate but it they want to keep their jobs, they will need to distance themselves from BO. Now is the time "We the People" can use our power and turn our representatives back to doing our bidding as we sent them to do.

Understanding the Healthcare Debate

Seems like nobody really understands the healthcare debate. The United States has undisputed the best healthcare in the world. We contribute to more advances in medicine then any other country with the exception of Israel.
With that said, we also have our problems. The key to "We Don't Get It" comes in statements like "if the rest of the world can have universal healthcare, why can't we?" It is foolish logic such as this that dooms healthcare in America.
Simple logic say that if you already have the best, doing what others are doing will make it like theirs and by definition worst then what we have. As long as this sentiment is foisted on the American people we will continue to spiral in a pit of do nothing. We need original ideas or better definition to the problem at hand.

I have laid this problem out very clearly a couple of years ago in an post I wrote titled,
The Key Points Covered:
Cost of Illegal Immigration to our healthcare system
Tort Reform - Frivolous and Record Breaking Awards
Education and Personal Health Responsibility
Freeing up Health Professionals to Deal with actual Health issues
Doctor Availability and the lack of new doctors entering the market
3rd party payer healthcare places incentives in the wrong area (HMOs and the real cost)

One of the other talking points that keeps log jamming progress is prescription drugs. I constantly hear people complaining about pharmaceutical companies making a killing on our backs. They usually go on to give the following as testimony, "I can order drugs online from outside the US and get them for half the cost as I can get them here."
Let me first be real clear -- I don't work for any drug company nor do I currently hold any stocks from said companies. Nobody is paying me to write this.
The difference in cost of drugs in and out of country comes down to a blackmail scheme that we allow to continue. Let me explain.
It takes untold years of research to develop a new drug, costing millions of dollars. That is followed by years of testing and proving to the standards of the FDA and to the standards of practice. Once again millions of dollars are spent in the hope of approval so the new drug can be marketed. Copyrighting is a small expense but only gives the company a small window to recoup the vast expense of bringing the drug to market. This window is generally seven to ten years.
The pharmaceutical company has to recover the vast expense and replenish the capital in order to develop new drugs.
Now here is where the blackmail scheme comes in. Foreign nations learn of this new drug and want it for there population as well. They threaten the company who has invested so much with ignoring the copyright and making it themselves if they don't supply it at a suggested cut throat price. The company has a choice of complying with the demand and making some money or loosing everything. They then boost the price in any markets they can to redeem the vast expense.
People like the one mentioned above help to perpetuate this theft and cast blame on the company who has provided them with the medical benefit. Our government does nothing to penalize these nations for their acts and then allows our companies to be verbally abused.

We have some real issues that need addressing in healthcare. Unfortunately, our government pretends not to recognize any of them. Let's not wreck our healthcare system with a government take over. Tell them what the problems are so we can have real solutions for incredible healthcare. We don't want anything less.

Didn't I Say That

I get asked all the time, "How long will this recession last?" or "When do you think we will get back to normal?". My answer has been the same, "Six months to a year after the government quits screwing with stuff." Now I see my answer is starting to be Parroted by others.

Congressman Ron Paul says Obama’s blowing it.
"You can take care of people, but never with a deficit, never by expanding the spending," the Texas Republican told Yahoo’s Tech Ticker.
"The more we do to interfere with the correction — the longer it lasts."
The recession that came after World War I only lasted a year, Paul says, because the government didn’t intervene.
“Hoover messed things up and Roosevelt compounded it because they believed the government had to prop up prices,” he notes.
According to Paul, the Great Depression actually ended after World War II. “It took that long to liquidate all the debt and bad investment,” he notes.

As long as the government continues to mess with our economy people will sit back and wait till the dust clears before making any moves. Why invest if the government is going to keep changing the game. Unfortunately, the longer they screw with stuff the deeper the recession will go. The more money and commitment to advance will be held from the market.
BO and his Car Czar has further complicated the future of financial markets by severely damaging bond funds such as those held in the auto industry. What was once a safe investment has been changed to risky. Further damage was done by denying business the right to set their own goals and make executive decisions. We saw bankruptcy law trashed in a multitude of ways.
All these acts further reduced confidence in the market place. Each of these poor choices by our government set back the hopes of recovery. I won't even go into bank buy outs and the excess printing of currency. Our government has done more damage to our economy in a year then anyone would have ever imagined. World markets used to look to America as a safe place to invest and now these cash infusions have almost dried up. Debt holders are starting to pull back and ask for guarantees.

We need to tell our representatives to stop screwing with the market and allow the system to right itself through sound business not government manipulation. We will continue to free fall until they are restrained.

"Run and Hide"as a Political Stratagy

The Obama Administration is starting to feel the pressure. His grand wish list is starting to crumble as congressional leaders start to feel the pressure from their constituents. "We the People" have started to make ourselves heard.
We have said NO to more spending. Now Obama has to push the No increases mantra and hope he can sneak another major power grab in.

What is my basis for all this sneaking and jiving?

White House putting off release of budget update

The White House is being forced to acknowledge the wide gap between its once-upbeat predictions about the economy and today's bleak landscape.
The administration's annual midsummer budget update is sure to show higher deficits and unemployment and slower growth than projected in President Barack Obama's budget in February and update in May, and that could complicate his efforts to get his signature health care and global-warming proposals through Congress.
The release of the update - usually scheduled for mid-July - has been put off until the middle of next month, giving rise to speculation the White House is delaying the bad news at least until Congress leaves town on its August 7 summer recess.

Go read the rest of How Obama is Stalling.

Go call your representatives and tell them exactly what you expect. Keep the pressure up folks. The tide is starting to turn.

Unemployment Numbers May Turn 2010 Election

When we look at the chart we see employment suffering the most where Obama took the win. These are the key people looking for Hope and Change, unless they get it change may take a different course in 2010.
Obama is failing to deliver and his poll numbers are falling. As the tephlon man he is making every effort to keep people on his side of the isle. The question is how long before things start to stick. The jobs aren't looking to return anytime soon. Businesses are continuing to fail and lay off workers. Nothing has been done to promote job growth and the Cap and Take program is looking to depress the markets even further.
Will Americans wake up in time to stop the nose dive? 2010 looks to be the election of reconing that may well change the course and stop the bleeding. Will we make it that far?

Saving the Many

Just when our enemies are looking to attack us from every angle, some hope is offered up. The nuclear option is the prize for those who seek our destruction. American innovation steps in and gives us a saving grace.
Scientists in Cleveland have created an injectable that stops radiation sickness.

Injection protects against dirty bomb
New medication a game-changer: 'We made a breakthrough that may save the lives of millions'

A groundbreaking advance in medicine announced this week promises to dramatically reduce the number of people who would be killed in a nuclear war due to radiation poisoning with simple injections administered within three days of exposure.

Funded by the Pentagon, Professor Andrei Gudkov, chief scientific officer at Cleveland BioLabs, developed the preventative drug – it's not a vaccine – based on research he began in 2003 using protein produced in bacteria found in the intestine to protect cells from radiation, reported Israel's YnetNews.

Cells exposed to large doses of radiation die, scientists have found, when the cell's "suicide mechanism" is activated. The new medication based on intestinal bacteria works by suppressing the mechanism that causes cells to die and allows them to recover.

What Will The Next Time Line Be?

The jobs are falling fast. Some are already predicting 5-7 years before recovery will occur. The our government gets in the way the longer it will last. This was proven under the "New Deal" policies of the great depression. Now, instead of taking the clear route to success, we have chosen the failed policies of the past.

Will the great depression be a minor financial blip in comparison to the current economic failures?

Idiots, Ethanol and Pushy Politics

You probably figured that this would happen. Now that the government owns the auto manufacturers they want to decide what kind of car we drive.

Now that the federal government has gained control over the nation's Auto Industry, one U.S. senator contends, it's time to make some changes in the kinds of cars Americans drive and the kinds of fuel they use.
According to a Des Moines Register report, Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, wants Congress to use "climate change" legislation to mandate that auto manufacturers fit all new cars to run on a blend of 85 percent ethanol.
"We own the automobile companies," Harkin said earlier this week. "Why not? I think that will be an easy one." ( Read: Will feds use new power to dictate what you drive?)

They think they are so smart and we so much lesser so need them to tell us what to buy. Perhaps, these ever so intellegent people, should read up on what they are pushing.
Fueling the automobile fleet primarily with ethanol rather than gasoline might increase air pollution, a new study finds.
Environmental engineer Mark Jacobson of Stanford University used a computer model to assess how the air pollution in the U.S. would react if vehicles remained primarily fueled by gasoline in 2020 or if the fleet transferred to a fuel that was a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, so-called E85. Under the latter scenario, levels of the cancer-causing agents benzene and butadiene dropped, whereas those of formaldehyde and acetaldehyde rose: In other words, it was a wash.
Because burning ethanol can potentially add more smog-forming pollution to the atmosphere, however, it can also exacerbate the ill effects of such air pollution. According to Jacobson, burning ethanol adds 22 percent more hydrocarbons to the atmosphere than does burning gasoline and this would lead to a nearly two parts per billion increase in tropospheric ozone. This surface ozone, which has been linked to inflamed lungs, impaired immune systems and heart disease by prior research, would in turn lead to a 4 percent increase in the number of ground level ozone-related deaths, or roughly 200 extra deaths a year. "Due to its ozone effects, future E85 may be a greater overall public health risk than gasoline," Jacobson writes in the study published in Environmental Science & Technology. "It can be concluded with confidence only that E85 is unlikely to improve air quality over future gasoline vehicles."

Or for a real twist in the environmental woes, how about this article:
The study, whose sponsors included the U.S. government and an environmental group, predicted that farmers in the bay watershed will plant 500,000 or more new acres of corn in the next five years. Because fields of corn generally produce more polluted runoff than those of other crops, that's a problem.
"It's going in the opposite direction from where we want to go," said Jim Pease, a professor at Virginia Tech and one of the study's authors.

We can't expect Senator Harkin to actually read, can we? Seems he can pass a lot of other bills without reading them, why not one this dumb.

These people are as dumb as a box of rocks and yet we have put them in charge of our future. You better be ready to make those calls again. We are going to have to explain it to them, again.

Bouquet Causes Plane Crash

As a person who shoots weddings you get to see all sorts of odd ways people handle various traditions. An Italian couple has topped anything I have seen.

Bride's bouquet brings down plane

The traditional throwing of a bride's bouquet for luck ended in disaster at an Italian wedding when the flowers caused a plane to crash.

The bride and groom had hired a small plane to fly past and throw the bouquet to a line of women guests, Corriere della Sera reported.

However, the flowers were sucked into the plane's engine causing it to catch fire and explode.

The aircraft plunged into a hostel. One passenger on the plane was badly hurt.

But about 50 people who had been in the hostel escaped unscathed, as did the pilot.

Talking About Healthcare

I happened across Tom's Place and found this great explanation of Healthcare. He happens to be linking to some videos, but he ties them all together with some great summarizing points.

Here is the First Video:

GO visit Tom's Place and watch the other video.

As a conservative I want the government to stay out of healthcare. I would like the government out of a number of other areas as well. Let me point out an article I wrote back in 2007 that laid out the key areas that are causing us such pain.
How To Make Healthcare Cheaper.

What I wrote then is still true. Until we are willing to face the actual problems we face in healthcare the cost will continue to rise. Mixing government into the system will only lead to greater pain and cost.

It Is Still Stealing

Oh, they will paint a pretty picture or tell you a story of doom and gloom, but at the end of the day all they really did was take your money. That is what has been going on in DC for decades. They no longer do the job that we the people sent them there for. Our political system is all about power and wealth. It is about placing yourself in a position to gain more power and wealth. Cap and Tax, I mean, Trade, is all about doing nothing for the purpose claimed but reeling in a ton of doe. More money means more power and this is how they plan on doing it.

Here is a great article that will spell it out pretty clear for you.
H/T to HeavyHanded for pointing it out.

More tax oppression

Why did a bare majority (219-212) of the members of the U.S. Congress vote for the largest tax increase in American history this past Friday, under the claim it was a vote to save the climate?

Before you answer the question, consider the following facts. The proponents claim this tax bill will reduce U.S. carbon dioxide emissions, which are purported to cause global warming. First, despite the claims of President Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and many in the media, there is no consensus in the scientific community about how much climate change, other than the normal cycles, is taking place, nor how severe it will be, and how much man-made CO2 is responsible. None of the climate models predicted the unexpected global cooling of the last decade.

It is known that the legislation will have a negligible effect on global CO2 emissions, particularly since the big polluters, such as China and India, are not playing ball. It is also known that the "cap and trade" system that the legislation calls for has been a failure in Europe, where it has been in operation for the last few years, in that it has proven to be far more costly than envisioned, has not met the CO2 reduction targets, and has been highly susceptible to corruption and abuse.

In addition, because the legislation requires Americans to use more inefficient energy (wind and solar) sources, it cannot help but raise costs for American businesses and citizens, and hence will kill jobs rather than create them (as contrasted to what Mr. Obama and Mrs. Pelosi have incorrectly claimed).

In sum, serious people understand the legislation will hurt the U.S. economy, reduce the standard of living and yet not accomplish its claimed intent; therefore, why were so many members of Congress willing to vote for it?

Are they idiots, or do they have another agenda?

You may want to read the rest.

Once again we are trying out things that don't work. Correction, things that have clearly been proven to not work. Our leadership is busy wasting time and money at our expense. I hope you are making yourself heard. I know I am writing regularly to my Representatives. I feel like I am pounding my head against a post, but it is high time that we as citizens step forward and make ourselves heard. Don't allow them to do business as usual politics. Take back our nation as our Constitution clearly lays before we the people.

The Birth of a Nation

We celebrated the birth of the United States of America this weekend. The celebrations were much less this year. City festivals and fireworks displays were almost non-existent in my area. Individuals set out to do it right, with no help from the government I might add.
I shot a wedding on the evening of the 4th then buzzed across town to enjoy a few fireworks. Here is a small glimpse of what I saw.
I love this nation! I love the founders dream for this nation! The beauty of the Declaration of Independence and the resulting triumph of our constitution. Yeah, we had some flaws. We had to right how blacks and women were treated by the law. The key thing is we could and we did.
